PTFE Energized Seals
Seal Design Overview
Used in applications where ultra-low friction, chemical compatibility, long life and extreme temperature performance is required. PTFE offers many advantages in sealing applications, however it typically requires an energiser to maintain and enhance sealing forces.
The energizing springs are available with either steel spring or rubber energizers.
Depending on the particular application a broad range of seal profiles are available.
Technical Resources
Spring Energized Seals
Spring Energized Seals can be used for applications requiring high sealing efficiency. Spring Energized Seals consist of U-shaped rings and stainless steel energizing springs (in either a V or coil section).
Spring Energized Seals Features include: low friction with no stick-slip, minimal break-out force and high wear-resistance. Unlimited shelf life and in designs for rod or pistons, subject of either static or dynamic applications.
Rubber Energized Seals
Elastomeric energized seals incorporate O-rings or square section rings in a selection of materials as required by the application. All elastomeric seals are available in piston or rod sealing configuration.
PTFE Energized Seals
Wide range of temperature and pressure with almost unlimited chemical compatibility
Standard seals can be used at pressures up to 3,000 psi. Custom seals up to 60,000 psi
Typical applications:
- Oil Field Equipment Actuators
- Pumps
- Cryo Coolers
- Aircraft Engines
- Brake Systems
- Chemical Pumps
- Compressors
- Mechanical Seals
- Drones
