Ultracomp Series: Offering Reliability & Performance in Demanding Applications
Daemar’s Ultracomp Series is known for its excellence in bearing-grade composites, offering unmatched performance for high load and low-speed plane bearing applications. Built with innovation and reliability in mind, Ultracomp products are engineered to meet the most demanding requirements across industries. Let’s explore what makes the Ultracomp Series the ideal choice for your application needs.
Benefits of Ultracomp Series
- Exceptional Strength and Durability
Ultracomp composites boast a compressive strength of up to 54,400 psi, enabling them to withstand extreme static and dynamic loads (based on compressive yield factors). This makes them perfect for industries where durability and reliability are critical. - Self-Lubricating and Versatile
Designed with synthetic resins, reinforcing fibers, and internal lubricants, Ultracomp operates seamlessly in both wet and dry conditions. It reduces friction, extends wear life, and eliminates the need for additional lubrication in most applications. - Low Maintenance and Economical
Ultracomp bearings are self-lubricating and resistant to moisture absorption, making them ideal for environments prone to water. Their lightweight and machinable properties also contribute to reduced maintenance costs.
Ultracomp Grades
UC-200: High Load and Abrasion Resistance
- Best for vibratory, high-impact, and slow-speed applications.
- Does not require lubrication and offers excellent abrasion resistance.
- Optimal performance on shafts with RC30 or higher.
UC-300: Enhanced Friction Performance
- Incorporates PTFE lubricant to reduce the coefficient of friction.
- Excels in rotary or linear applications.
- Compatible with stainless steel and aluminum mating surfaces.
UC-400: Saltwater and Dry Oscillation Applications
- Features MOS2 for saltwater and dry oscillation.
- Perfect for marine environments and similar challenging conditions.
UC-500: Rotary Applications
- Combines PTFE, polyester fibers, and graphite for exceptional low-friction and long-wear performance.
- Ideal for full rotary applications requiring durability and efficiency.
Applications
- Stock Shapes: Suitable for railroad components, off-road vehicles, and mining equipment.
- Spherical Bearings: Perfect for conveyor, amusement park, aircraft & ground support equipment.
- Fabricated Parts: Ideal for hydraulic wear rings, marine cranes, and chemical plants.
Design and Performance Considerations
- Load Management
Ultracomp excels under static loads over 50,000 psi but requires proper consideration of compressive yield factors for dynamic applications. - Lubrication
While inherently self-lubricating, lightweight oils or grease can further enhance performance in high-load scenarios by reducing heat buildup and extending wear life. - Mating Surface Recommendations
For optimal wear, dynamic mating surfaces should have a 12-16 RMS finish and a hardness of 45 RC or greater, and for static surface 32 RMS finish is recommended. Avoid chrome plating; instead, consider ENP or other hard coat processes. - Chemical and Environmental Resistance
Ultracomp’s chemical resistance and UV stability make it a preferred choice for harsh environments, including exposure to acids and bases.
