Versatile Tapered Caps Fit Your Product Protection Needs
Tapered caps and plugs are used to protect a wide variety of tubing and threaded machined parts and ports from dust, moisture, and impact damage. These caps and plugs also act as masking protection for painting, plating, powder coating, and anodizing operations.
Parts are particularly vulnerable to damage and contamination during manufacturing, transportation, and storage processes. Tapered caps and plugs safeguard the components against these environments. The tapered design permits one cap to fit various applications and tolerances.
Our Tapered Caps are available in a range of materials and series.
Materials
- LDP: It is Flexible, economical, and offers good chemical resistance
- HDP: It offers excellent resistance to most chemicals, but poor resistance to oil and grease
- Vinyl: It withstands high temperatures. It is quite durable and abrasion and moisture resistant
- PVC: It is flexible and can tolerate high temperatures
- Silicone: It is resistant to high and low temperatures
- Paper (Crepe): It offers a high range of flexibility.

Series
T Series
T Series Tapered Caps can be used as either caps or plugs. Because they are tapered in design and made from highly pliable (or flexible) polyethylene, they can not only be applied to fit snugly but are readily removable…whether used for capping or plugging. Especially recommended for use on MIL Std. and SAE-type tube and hydraulic fittings and for threaded external and internal NPT fittings.
Material: Low-Density Polyethylene, (Also available in green FlexTemp, a flexible thermoplastic rubber for extreme temperature applications ranging from -90 ºF to 300 ºF (-68 ºC to 149 ºC)).
Service Temperature: LDPE: -94 – 175° F (-70 – 79° C) | FlexTemp: 0 – 300° F (-18 – 148° C)
Colour*: Red
WW Series (Tapered with Wide, Thick Flange)
Easy to install and remove and accepted by the aircraft industry, Series WW Caps are designed with a wide, thick flange to ensure against being erroneously forced “all the way through” when used as a plug. Available in 76 sizes, this versatile part may easily be used as a cap or plug, depending upon application.
Material: Low-Density Polyethylene
Service Temperature: -94 – 175° F (-70 – 79° C)
Colour*: Yellow.
WWX Series
The extra wide flange of the WWX Series provides extended visibility. This dummy-proof design prevents the mating component from being installed without first removing the cap. Available in seventeen sizes, this versatile part may easily be used as a cap or plug depending on application. It features highly visible design, and it is easy to install and remove.
Material: Low-Density Polyethylene
Service Temperature: -94 – 175° F (-70 – 79° C)
Colour: Yellow
