PTFE Encapsulated O-Rings
Virtually Chemically Inert
PTFE Encapsulated Viton® o-rings are o-rings consisting of a seamless and uniform PTFE FEP/PFA encapsulation/jacket which completely encloses a core material Viton® fluoroelastomer (also available in silicone). The combination of these components creates an o-ring that is virtually chemically inert and compression set resistant for use in harsh sealing environments. Encapsulated o-rings will decrease downtime and hence increase profitability wherever corrosive fluids and gases cause premature seal failure.

Economical Compared to Exotic Compounds
DMR™ encapsulated o-rings match the chemical and temperature resistance of solid PTFE o-rings, in addition PTFE encapsulated o-rings possess properties of elasticity and recovery which are crucial in many sealing applications. DMR™ encapsulated o-rings withstand breakdown caused by industrial solvents and corrosive materials at elevated temperatures from -60ºC/-75ºF to +205ºC/400ºF (See General Specifications). DMR™ encapsulated o-rings can economically and effectively replace other expensive and exotic o-ring compounds.
Viton® or Silicone Core
The PTFE provides a non stick surface for easy cleanup of viscous materials. These o-rings have a low coefficient of friction of .2 on metal and the o-rings surface is self lubricating. The PTFE encapsulation makes the o-rings sanitary by eliminating contamination of fluids by the elastomers. The o-rings are sterilizable and autoclavable, FDA compliant, USP Class VI compliant, NSF compliance available for specific applications.
DMR™ encapsulated o-rings consist of either a solid Viton® or silicone fluoroelastomer core encapsulated in PTFE* FEP/PFA resin (with .010 to .045 wall depending cross section). These o-rings have a low compression set which meets or exceeds the requirements of L-P389A and ASTM-D-2166.
